Birthday Post

Well kids, I am now officially another year older. I don't feel older though, so I guess that is what matters. Below are some pics from my birthday gathering in DC. It was tons of fun. And tons of alcohol. :) I would like to say that I deny all responsiblity for my actions after....let's say 6:45 pm....due to the fact that my blood had turned into pure liquor by that point. Ha ha! Although according to Dorothy, since it was my birthday I can say and do as I damn well please! :) Enjoy the pics below... there are many, many more where these came from. The first two are kinda fuzzy because for some reason or other Picasa is being wierd about those pics. Who knows. Computers. Bah. Drop me an email or something if you want to see the rest, I'll let ya see my Ofoto web page.

New Template

Yes! I finally figured out this template! Go me! Go me! Woot Woot! Well with a little help from my sister once again I have figured out how to put these pretty pictures on my blog! :) Yay! Well it only took me a couple of days once she filled me in on photo hosting and all that stuff. So here it is! You likey? May Star designs are the best! Anyhoo, I have to lay down and rest for a little while before I go and kick my own ass at the gym.... but I will leave you with this poem that I found when I was reading the New Yorker at work. It is actually a pretty good magazine. I don't know, for some reason this poem just struck a chord with me.
ABC
I'll never find out now
what A. thought of me.
If B. ever forgave me in the end.
Why C. pretended everything was fine.
What part D. played in E.'s silence.
What F. had been expecting, if anything.
Why G. forgot when she knew perfectly well.
What H. had to hide.
What I. wanted to add.
If my being around
meant anything
to J. and K. and the rest of the alphabet.

Missy in Love

This is my Valentine's Day post. Learn about Missy.....astrology can be fun! :) Get your own at Yahoo horoscopes.

SECTION I: How Melissa Relates to Other People
Mercury Trine Pluto with an orb between 1 and 3 degrees
You are extremely persuasive and, perhaps, skilled at manipulating others to share your views. Your intuition is powerful and the research skills which may help you professionally also manifest in your private life. You know everyone's deepest secrets.

Venus Trine Pluto with an orb between 1 and 3 degrees
When it comes to love, you are definitely not casual. You yourself may be surprised at the depths of feeling a close relationship brings to the surface. You love deeply and passionately and do not understand people who are incapable of making lasting commitments.

Venus Sextile Neptune with an orb of less than 1 degree
However cool or cynical you may appear to be externally, you are extraordinarily sensitive and romantic. You are gentle and artistic and would rather do without a relationship than be part of one which does not measure up to your highest ideals of love.

Mercury Conjunct Venus with an orb between 3 and 5 degrees
Intelligence is sexy to you. If a person you find physically attractive isn't also bright, verbal and someone you can talk to, you're not interested. You have a highly developed aesthetic sense and are drawn to people of taste, wit and charm.

Venus Square Uranus with an orb between 3 and 5 degrees
You need to be close and you need to be free. This is a major life conflict which has always created complications for you in close personal relationships. One manifestation of this may be a tendency to pursue the unavailable or the unreliable.

Mercury Sextile Neptune with an orb between 1 and 5 degrees
You know things intuitively as well as rationally and have a rare capacity to perceive in others feelings, thoughts and dreams they may never have openly shared. Anyone close to you would have to share your love of music and interest in spiritual thought.

Snowboarding

Snowboarding is freaking hard.....

The most memorable quote of the weekend:

Bruce said, "I do whatever the hill wants me to do."

The most memorable action of the weekend:

Dennis flying down the bunny hill during our snowboarding lesson, all of us saying how well he was doing and how he did a great J-turn, and then he went flying face first into the snow. No kidding, it was the most hilarious thing we had ever seen. We all laughed about it for an hour, and then later on that night for another hour.

So the story goes, Bruce, Katie, Dennis, Grant, Neil, and I went to Hidden Valley Ski Resort this weekend to snowboard. Well, Neil chickened out of snowboarding and just skied instead. But the rest of us decided to try snowboarding. I had never skied before or anything, and neither had Bruce. I'm pretty sure Grant hadn't either. Katie and Dennis had skied but not for like 3 years or something. So first I found out that I am "goofy" because I like to put my right foot instead of my left foot forward (people who put their left foot forward are "regular"). Dennis was "goofy" too though so I didn't feel so bad. We spent the ENTIRE first hour falling. We practiced on the bunny hill for that first hour, and then took a lesson at 2 that was an hour and a half long. The lesson helped in that I could at least stand up on the board without falling and I could stop myself too. And I could get around a little with the board still attached to one foot. She taught us some turns and how to stand and all that jive. But I still fell for the rest of the day. Katie and I just fell the whole time down the bunny hill all day long. It was pretty hilarious though. We almost just went to get our IDs and went to the bar in the Lodge instead of subjecting ourselves to any more torture. I think the main thing for both of us though was that the bunny hill was SO crowded. We were both afraid of getting going too fast and crashing into someone or not being able to stop or something. Someone did crash into me once and knocked me over! But I fell on top of them so it didn't hurt! Then we kept seeing these little kids go flying by us on snowboards like it was the easiest thing in the world. Every time they went by Katie and I told each other that they were bastards. But honestly, it was SO much fun! I loved it. I would probably have never tried snowboarding if it weren't for Bruce. It seems like it would be so much more fun if you had time to devote to practicing it. By the end of the day Dennis and Bruce were going down some of the big hills but Katie, Grant and I opted out. Neil was skiing so he didn't count. I didn't want to have anything broken when I go to Miami in 2 weeks. I can't have weird tan lines! Ha ha! That night we went to Ruby Tuesday and had dinner. Then we went back to the hotel and played drinking games for a little while. Everyone was so tired though, it didn't last that long. But it was really fun while we were playing, especially because Katie and I kept winning! :) Yeah girls rule! Well, that is my snowboarding report. If you haven't tried it yet, I recommend you do because it was tons of fun. That is unless you are afraid of spending the entire day falling alternately on your ass and your face, because I guarantee that is what will happen.

Old Lady Jokes

These jokes made me crack up... thanks Courtney for sending them to me!
Produce
Three old ladies were sitting side by side in their retirement home reminiscing.
The first lady recalled shopping at the green grocer's and demonstrated (with her hands) the length and thickness of a cucumber she could buy for a penny.
The second old lady nodded, adding that onions used to be much bigger and cheaper also, and demonstrated the size of two big onions she could buy for a penny a piece.
The third old lady remarked, "I can't hear a word you're saying, but I remember the guy you're talking about."

Lifesaver
Two elderly ladies are sitting on the front porch, doing nothing. One lady turns and asks, "Do you still get horny?"
The other replies, "Oh sure I do."
The first old lady asks, "What do you do about it?"
The second old lady replies, "I suck a lifesaver."
After a few moments, the first old lady asks, "Who drives you to the beach?"
