Ambiguity is the only certainty in life.

I had the longest, most boring day ever today. I sat in briefings all day long. I mean, for 8 loooooooooooong hours. Then I went to class for 3 hours. There's nothing like being talked at for 11 hours all in one day to really drain you.

I can't even focus. I feel so confused and all of my emotions are one big jumble and most of them are not good. Ugh. I kinda want to cry.

I better go to bed. I gotta get up in 7 hours and sit in a million bazillion more hours of briefings again tomorrow.

At least tomorrow is Halloweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnn!!!!!!!

Snoring Furball. And I'm going to have a ball. And I'm going to be the belle of the ball.

Have you ever heard a cat snore? Last night Zach and I were cuddling on the couch and he was snoring his head off. I was just laying there with this huge smile on my face because it was seriously the cutest, funniest thing I have ever heard. Also, I found out a couple days ago that he loves popsicles.

Tonight I am going to a Ball (yes, a ball!)! I am soooooo excited - I am sure it is going to be tons of fun. I am going to wear this super cute & sexy black dress that I have been dying to wear. And I got some really hot new shoes. Oh man I love new shoes! I'm going to be the belle of the ball. Or at least try to be. The only thing that kind of sucks is that it is really rainy out today, but I am not going to let it bother me.

Saturday is the Halloween pre-party that Jessi, Alice, Tony and I planned together. I love Halloween. It is the best holiday ever. After we get good and sauced, we are going to head down to the Nightmare on M Street in D.C. I heard that it is really awesome. It is basically a bar crawl around midtown, but we'll probably only end up going to 2 bars or something because I've heard that the lines get pretty long as the night goes on.

Capitals Game

I went to my first Capitals game last night and it was so fun! I haven't gone to see any hockey games since I moved here and I couldn't believe how much I missed it - as soon as the game started I was enthralled the whole time. It was great. We played Tampa Bay and beat them 5-3, which was very very nice. It was a really good game! I really hope I get to go to a Red Wings game this year!

Today I am going to get my hair done and I absolutely cannot wait. Mainly because it looks awful, but also because I get to get my hair washed by someone else. Oh man that is the best feeling ever. If I meet a man that will do that for me whenever I want, I might consider marrying him. Ha ha.

Also, yesterday I received an Instant Recognition Award for Outstanding Contribution to my program. I was totally pumped! Woo hoo I am the bomb!

I Need an Old Priest and a Young Priest

Wow, well I had a pretty crazy weekend and I have been paying for it...all weekend. Friday night I ate dinner with Alice (homemade Chinese food!) then we went to Front Page in Dupont Circle and met up with some people. It was okay, but it reminded me of a college bar and I am sooooooo over college bars. It was fun to try somewhere new, though. It seemed that a lot of the people (other than those we were with, of course) were pretty pretentious, though. Saturday I laid around and nursed my hangover all day, then at night Alice and I went out with some people to Indebleu in Chinatown. It was pretty neat. I don't really go out in Chinatown that often so it was fun to go somewhere new (again). We had a really really awesome time. Sunday I was still sick and I once again laid around for a while and nursed my hangover. I ran some errands, did all of my laundry, and made some homemade Italian bean soup. So at least I was productive for part of the day. I still feel like total crap though. Ugh.

Tonight I'm going over to Jessi's house to alter my Halloween costume, because it is absolutely gimongous on me. It was one of those "one-size" ones so I didn't get to pick a size, unfortunately. So hopefully I don't screw it up because I don't think I have sewn anything since 7th grade home economics. Home economics is really a dumb name for it now that I think about it. I remember I made my sister a pillow case with Marvin the Martian on it. Ha ha.

I was just perusing Cute Overload and I saw this ad for these super cute stuffed animals at this website:

Isn't it totally adorable?! They are really huge and squishy and called - squishables! I need another stuffed animal like I need a hole in the head but I REALLY like this one. So I can make an exception, right?!

Soooo Glad it is Friday - Albeit a looooooong Friday

Why did I do this to myself? I only worked 8 hour days all week, so by the time today rolled around, I still have to work 8 hours. It sucks because everyone leaves at noon usually, because all the smart people work 9 hour days so they only have to work 4 on Friday. I am pretty good at that normally but this week I was so busy that I really could only work 8 hours and I didn't ever get in early enough to work more, because I was out too late every night. I know, I'm whiny. Oh well. I have to stay for another hour or so. Ugh.

I'm really excited because I have tons of fun stuff planned this weekend. Starting with going to Alice's house for dinner tonight - she is making me homemade Chinese food! I am pumped! I looooooove Chinese food! And I've never had it homemade before! Then I'm going out with Jessi to the bar later on and I'm sure I will have a Chinese food baby. Ha ha. Tomorrow I am going to a wine tasting all day with Alan and Justin, and tomorrow night I am going out on the town with Alice to this really swanky club in China town. More awesomeness. Woot woot. I'm super excited about the wine tasting because I have been wanting to go to some vineyards in Virginia for a really, really long time. It's going to be a blast. Sunday I have millions of errands to run, including going to get my Halloween costume altered because it is huge on me. So that should be fun.

At some point I would also like to catch up on some SLEEP as well.

Well so far this post is pretty boring so in order to redeem myself I will post 1) pictures of a hot guy, and 2) a joke.

Colin Ferrell - Makes me want to move to Ireland

A Jewish student was doing well in school in all subjects except for Math. So his parents decide to send him to a private Catholic school.

While there the boy came home from school and studied every day. At the end of the marking period the boy got straight A's. So his parents asked him, "What motivated you to do so well in school?"

He replied, "When I saw that guy nailed to a plus sign I knew they weren't fooling around!"

1/2 Price Martinis?!

You can't beat 1/2 price martinis! I went to my favorite-est place for happy hour ever tonight - 11th Street Lounge. I loooooooooooove that place. It is so chill and their specials and food are awesome.

I should not be writing on my blog after 3 martinis and a shot. A free shot at that! The manager gave us free shots! Woo hoo!

Heard that new song Clumsy by Fergie? I have only heard it on the radio once - and I love it! I went and bought the CD yesterday, finally. The whole thing is really good. And Clumsy is my new ring tone. Some lyrics:

You know, this isn't the first time this has happened to me
This love sick thing
I like serious relationships and
A girl like me dont stay single for long
Cuz everytime a boyfriend and I break up
My world is crushed and I'm all alone
The love bug crawls right back up and bites me - and I'm back!

Today I got to work super late, mainly because I stayed up super late last night and couldn't fall asleep. So I slept in and took my time getting ready. Jackie laughed when I told her I have a much better outlook on life when I have gotten enough sleep. I got up around 8:45 and took my time getting ready. It was nice. The only thing that sucks about it is that I now have to stay at work until 7, because I am going to go work out for an hour with Jessi and Nikki at around 4. It'll be a nice way to break up the day though. Plus I am going out to dinner at 7:30 anyway so it doesn't really matter! See? It was all part of my master plan.

I bought my ticket today! Feb 21 is the day!! It'll be a Happy Birthday to me! :)

Back to Square One

Well, I kind of feel like I am back to square one again at work. I was just assigned my new project and I am working on totally different stuff than I was before. It helps with boredom, however I despise having the feeling that I am clueless again. For one thing, it makes it kinda hard to stay awake during morning meetings. Ha ha. I think it is going to be good though, once I get up to speed. Learning curves are tough to deal with sometimes, but I guess they are a necessary evil unless you plan to do the same thing forever and ever. Which would drive me nuts. It seems as though there is a lot of meaningful work for me to do though, so that's good. I am just really glad that my last project is totally over and I was successful. It helps to have something like that under your belt.

Today is my least favorite day of the week - Tuesday. Because...I have class for 3 hours tonight. Ugh. It is awful. Our professor is totally unorganized and all of his instructions for the homework, exam, and project are totally ambiguous. On his grading scale he states that 5% of our grade is up to "teacher's discretion." Personally I think that is totally ridiculous. I would like to hear my teacher friends' opinions on that one. That's like, oh if he doesn't like me he can knock down my grade 5%? Under normal circumstances, I would not mind since for the most part my professors seem to like me. BUT for this guy...I discussed it with some of my other female classmates and we all agree that he may have a tiny problem with women. Case in point, for one of our homework assignments, a girlfriend and I both got a lower score than another male classmate even though our homework was more thorough and complete. Not to mention, it was pretty simple considering all you did was follow a tutorial for this software program, so pretty much everyone had almost exactly the same thing. Oh man I can't talk about it anymore!

How about a picture of a cute boy make everyone's Tuesday brighter?
Vince Vaughn as a cowboy licking his finger...you can't get any better than that!

Great Weekend!

Oh man I had such a great weekend in Baltimore with Jessie! Friday night we went out on the town and danced our feet off. Then Saturday morning we got up and went to brunch - drank some mimosas - and then went to the national aquarium. It was so awesome, I cannot even explain. I loved it. Everything was so cool! The sharks, the blowfish, the frogs...I loved it! Then Saturday night we went out to this super trendy restaurant called Pazo. It was sooooooooooo good. Then we went out on the town again, and this time met up with her boyfriend and one if his boys. The bar was super fun but we ended up leaving because it was really smoky and was annoying us. We went to another bar for a bit and then headed back to Jessie's house and hung out. Sunday morning we all went to brunch, ate a lot, and drank a lot of mimosas again. Then we went to this bowling alley in little Italy and drank more bottomless mimosas. Ha ha. We bowled a couple games and Brad's boy Chris ended up getting a strike that won us a bucket of beer. It was hilarious, but of course I hate beer so I didn't have any. Ha ha. I finally headed back at got home a few hours ago. I think I need a weekend to recover from my weekend. Ha ha. See some pics below!

This Made Me Laugh

Sexy picture of George Clooney as Danny Ocean

I love those eyes, and that cute little half-smile. Sigh.

I'm a Baller

I tried something neeeeeewwwwwww - racquetball! I went and played with Jessi P., her boyfriend, and one of his boys. It was really fun! It is kinda hard and I was afraid I was going to get pelted with the ball the majority of the time, but at the end I was starting to pick it up. They said it was actually the hardest way to learn, with four people, but I still did pretty good. I could never keep track of whether it was my turn to hit the ball or not. At one point I did hit the ball super hard right in to Jessi's boyfriend's head. I felt so awful, but it was seriously hilarious. We all laughed hysterically for like 5 minutes after it happened. Jessi said she has hit him in the head like a million times, so we decided that he must have a really big head. I think we are going to go plaly again next week. :o)

After that we went to happy hour and it was pretty fun, but I was so exhausted from working all day and playing racquetball for an hour that I was not very perky while we were there. We had a good time, though.

Oh man I am so glad it is finally Friday! This week seriously flew by but I am still so tired, and I can't wait to catch up on some sleep this weekend. Jessie S. and I are going to be doing tons of fun stuff in Baltimore so I am super excited. Woo hoo!

Somebody's Cold One Is Giving Me Chills

Oh man is it COLD today! I was excited though, because I got to wear my new coat. It was fun, and it made me feel happy. That's what it's all about, people. I am so excited about fall. It is so fun and pretty and exciting and EVERYTHING! I can't wait to go to the pumpkin patch and get a pumpkin to carve! :o) I got my costume in the mail yesterday and it is so cute and is going to be hilarious. The wig is out of control. Ha ha ha ha ha! And the other thing I am looking forward to is using my fireplace again. I love it. I get those logs from Target...and I know that is sooooo silly but it is just so easy to put one in my fireplace and just light it. They last for like 4 or 5 hours and it is so easy, and it really makes my apartment super warm and cozy. I love it. I used my fireplace all the time last year.

I finally finished my performance self-appriasal thingie that I had to do for work. It wasn't so bad once I sat down and just did it. But seriously, how do you sum up all the work you have done with respect to each goal in only 1000 characters! Impossible!

Last night I had a dream that I went sky-diving with Alice and another co-worker, Barry. It was so freaking hilarious. I cannot get over how crazy my dreams are. I was up in the plane, and I almost chickened out, but Barry made me go. And I remember having a conversation with the sky-diving people saying that they should let you try out different elevations so you can get used to it, rather than just going straight up to the highest one. I think that's a pretty damn good idea, but then again I suppose it might take some of the thrill out of it.

Sexy Picture of Julian McMahon as Christian

Because of him, I love the name Christian. Yum.

Boomboomboom Letmehearyousaywayoh Wayoh

Think. Happy. Thoughts. I will not let the cranky pants be involuntarily be put on me today. I will not.

I'm really bored. Really. Bored. I have to fill out this thing for work where you rate your performance over the last year, and honestly, I am NOT in the mood. I shall not do it right now. And that is that. So there. I just closed the window. Sometimes it is best to procrastinate.

I can't believe it is already Wednesday. This week is flying by. I am really excited about the weekend already; I'm going to Baltimore for the weekend. I am so pumped to see the aquarium there. I hear it is awesome and I love aquariums. Hence the three aquariums that I have in my house. I don't care if I am a nerd. :o)

This week I am going to go apply for my passport for my trip to Germany. I got my passport pics last weekend and they are totally hideous. I won't be surprised if the Germans turn me away at the border.

I've Got the Cranky Pants On

I don't know what my deal is, but I am really freaking cranky today. Have been all day. It started when my alarm went off. Stupid alarms. Whose idea were alarms anyway? They suck. Ha ha.

Today was really boring at work, and it was so quiet all day you could practically hear a pin drop. Since it was a government holiday, a lot of people weren't there. Which is fine I guess, but I was just booooooooooooooooooooored.

I'm almost half way through The Glass Castle and I really really like it. The people in the book are seriously crazy. I can't believe half of the crap that they do. It's a memoir too, so that means people really did this crazy shit. Now that I've piqued your interest, I am sure you will want to go out and buy it! Ha ha.

Well, I suppose I should end this post because I don't want to infect you with my crankiness. I shall bid you adieu.

Follow Your Dream

Write Down Your Dream and Tuck It Away...

Today your life holds for you endless possibilities. You have built a solid foundation and you have worked hard for it. Continue to do what is necessary to move forward one day at a time. Write down your dream and tuck it away - entrusting that all things will come at the right time. Keep sight always of what is important in life. Remember that true happiness and purpose will be found in relationships - in the workplace and at home. Live each day open to guidance, and your purpose will be revealed to you. May your future be filled with love and acceptance.

Isn't that nice? One of my grandma's really good friends (who has been a close friend of our family) sent me a card that said the above. I thought it was really sweet and special so I thought I would share it.

On another note, I had a dream that I got a new job, moved back to Michigan, and bought a house on the same block as Jackie's new house. :o)

I just watched Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? with George Clooney and it was the most boring movie I have ever seen in my life. The only redeeming quality was that George Clooney was in it, and his character was really annoying anyway so it was really minimal. I can't believe he accepted that role.

Time to go for a run.

I Never Need to Eat Again

OMG I have the worst food baby ever right now. I went out to eat twice today. I better stop it or I am going to turn into a heifer. Although both times I didn't get anything that was really bad for me, so I have that going for me. Which is nice. I went out to lunch with my manager, and I went out to dinner with a friend and...oh man just thinking about it makes me want to hurl. I still have to work out tonight too so I really hope it digests fast. I don't want to be going to the gym at freakin' midnight. Honestly I really just want to let myself slip into a comfortable food coma and call it a night but I can't - I can't let down my Get Fit Challenge team!

I am soooooooooooooo totally pumped and excited I can't stand it. I have been talking to my friend Jenny on MySpace (we used to work together at Willowtree in college), and she said I could come and visit her in Germany! She is living there because her husband is deployed there. And yesterday she sent me a message saying that she has some friends in Italy that we can go visit while I am there - which pretty much sent me over the EDGE with excitement because Italy is the #1 place I have ALWAYS wanted to go! I can't believe it! I just cannot believe that one of my dreams is really coming true! So, last night I was looking up tickets and she told me two different airports that I could fly into. The tickets are like $480 to either one, but one of them has a layover in Detroit and the other has a layover in Amsterdam. Can you guess which one I am going to pick?! Uh, yeah! Amsterdam! So anyway, I am planning on going at the end of February. I thought it would be a really nice birthday present to myself!!! :o) Woo hoo!!!

My book club picked our first book that we are going to read: The Glass Castle. I bought it a few days ago and read the first two or three pages and it already seems really really good. I'm excited.

Ooooh I think they like me!

I cannot believe this. I am so proud of myself. I got a phone call today from a guy at work asking me if I have a template for the way I ran my project because all of the government people have been talking about how they liked it, and they want a new process to reflect how I did mine! Can you believe it?! Then my friend Joe emailed me and said that he hears good things about my briefings! I am so happy and excited! Yes! Woot woot!

Yesterday Jessi, Nikki and I started a new workout program that was in last month's Fitness magazine and it seriously kicked our butts. It has 9 supersets, and you repeat each 3 times, and ohmigod we were seriously about to die in the end. I am so sore today. It was such a good workout! It was really exciting to start something new. It is a four-week plan too, and each week is different. So for the next month it should keep things interesting!

Last night when I got home I got out all of my Halloween decorations and put them up around my house. I love Halloween. I think it is my new favorite holiday. And I ordered my costume. I am not going to say what I finally decided on...you'll have to wait for the pics!

After that I watched The Horse Whisperer. I was really afraid it was going to be sad (it was, a little) but it was such a good movie. And it was totally wierd but I was seriously swooning over Robert Redford! I don't know what it was...girls you have seriously got to watch it. It is some really nice-cowboy-man-candy.... and it wasn't only that, it was just his character...! I mean, the movie is totally old (released in 1998) and he is 71 now. He did not look 62 in this movie at all. Scarlett Johannsen played the 13-year-old little girl in the movie. Here are some pics from it!
