Working a Full Day on Friday Sucks

Working a full day on Friday really sucks because: Most people are smart enough to work 9 hour days M-Th so they can leave at noon on Friday. Since I took Monday off because I was in Detroit Rock City, I have to work a full day today. I'm going to be sitting here by myself bored out of my gourd. I guess I will decide to look at it as an opportunity to have some peace and quiet. Although I must say that this new building I am sitting in is really, really quiet compared to the other one. Also, I noticed there are a lot less sad people here. I mean, there were people in the other building that I worked in that had been there for like 30 years and they always looked so sad, run-down and usually had stringy-brown-scientist-hair. It's unfortunate. I really wanted to give most of them makeovers.

I have an exciting weekend planned. Tonight I am going out with Jade and a buncha people in DC; hopefully some dancing will occur. Tomorrow I'm going to a Pampered Chef party with Fitzalan and then out on a date and to a party later on. Sunday I am FINALLY having my book club. I am so excited. I'm actually kinda glad we decided to postpone it because some of the girls(I won't mention any names) were slackers and hadn't finished the book yet. Ha ha. So it should be fun. We're going to have lots of food, and I am just really excited to have people over my house. I love having people over. It's so fun. Plus Zach gets lots of attention and he likes that.

Aw. You had me at hello...tear. Okay, does anyone else think that is kinda-just-kinda-sorta-a-little over the top? I mean, there's making your kid a priority and then there is "organizing" your scheudle according to "his needs." WTF?

Woo anyway well I am having so much fun lately I just don't even know where to begin. So I will leave it at that. I am so happy and having so much fun right now that I can barely contain myself. It's about time!

I just read this really amazing book called The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. I really, really think that everyone should read this book. If you are in a relationship or if you are not, it is really eye opening. Basically, the five possible languages are

1. Quality Time
2. Words of Affirmation
3. Receiving Gifts
4. Acts of Service
5. Phsycal Touch

Each person has a specific way that they interpret love, and desire it to be expressed to them in that lanugage. One is not better or worse than the others, it all depends on the person. So, if you and your partner have two different love languages and don't know it, you could be expressing love to each other they way you know how - and not realize that the other person is thinking where the heck is the love?! Ha ha.

Funny Night Last Night

Jackie and I went out to Tequila Rain last night and it was interesting to say the least. First, I was really excited to go out to the bar with Jackie because when we were younger, 99% of the time it was just her and I that went out on the town together. It was a blast and we were reminiscing about how we would stop at 7-11 and buy slurpees and fill them with vodka. It was good. Damn I miss those days a lot.

We went to Tequila Rain and although it is super far away (like 30 min or so), I was just soooooooo happy to go to a bar that wasn't Malarkey's, Malley's, or Prush's. I am so sick of those bars; I just really did not want to go to any of them again. When we finally got to the bar it was pretty dead but we really didn't care. It was still fun and it eventually started to fill up. We danced a little. We got hit on by the most random guys I have ever seen in my life. One guy looked just like that huge guy from The Green Mile, one looked like that rock guy from Fantastic Four (he was seriously HUGE!), and another was like my father's age. I was like are you kidding me? He looked like a deer in headlights coming up to us. Poor guy. But honestly! There were many more but I just can't even begin to list them all. Ha ha!

After that we went back to Jackie's new house in Dundee that her and Steve just bought and it is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I can't wait to see the rest of it tonight; she couldn't show me the upstairs because Steve was sleeping up there and had to get up early this morning for work. But it is so pretty and I am so jealous because I really want a house, especially one like hers. It was really cozy and she had it decorated really cute for the holidays. I will take lots of pictures and post them when I get back to Virginia.

Okay, it's time to go eat breakfast. That's how we roll in the Duckett house, breakfast at noon. Woo hoo!

Today is a day to give thanks...and I just wanted to say that I realize that I am truly blessed to have so many amazing people in my life. I have the best friends, and the best family that anyone could ever ask for. I am so thankful for that every day of my life.

Short Week

Woo Hoo it's Friday!!! I am sooooo happy I only had to work 3 days this week! Only like, 4 hours left! Yes! I am at my new building today and I got my new cube. It's pretty sweet. I will miss my window though that I had at my other desk. Oh well, sometimes sacrifices must be made.

Monday I was supposed to have my first book club meeting but it had to be postponed, unfortunately. So I think we are going to have it next week on Friday or Sunday. Still waiting to hear from the rest of the girls. Alice and Alan were sick, and Jacqi and Elizabeth hadn't finished the book yet, so basically it would've ended up being me and Jessi talking about the book and driving them nuts. Ha ha. So I guess it worked out for the best either way.

Today I get out of work at 3:30 and then I am working out, and then I have to finish packing and stuff to get ready to go to Detroit. I am getting dinner made for me tonight - which will be very nice I must say so. :o)

Well I know I haven't been posting much lately but I promise promise promise I will start again, but maybe not until after Thanksgiving. It depends on how bored I am at my parents' house.

Long Week

I had a looooong week. I was in a training class for work all week and it was from 7:30 - 5:00 every day. That is a long day to spend sitting in a class for four days in a row. Plus I had regular school on Tuesday so I really spent like 12 hours in class that day. Fun times. The good news is I don't have to go back to regular school until January 7th. Yay for holidays! The class I took this week was actually really really good and I learned a lot, so that was good. Plus it got me out of the office for a whole week...which means I am pretty sure I only have 3 days left here cuz I'll be moving to my new location after Thanksgiving! I can't believe next week is already Thanksgiving!!

I have a super fun weekend planned and I am so excited. Tomorrow I'm going to see Dane Cook (dinner and drinks beforehand), and Saturday night I am going out on the town with my girls! I am so excited! We're going to dance all night hopefully. On Sunday I hope to go buy something with sequins to wear on New Year's Eve. Which, by the way, is going to be the bomb. Chrissy might come here!! Woo hoo!

Excited About the Weekend!!!!!!

Oh man I have so much fun stuff planned for this weekend that I don't even mind that I have to spend a lot it working on my project for school! Next Tuesday is my last day of class until after New Year's so I am so happy!!

Today Jessi and I were talking and we are going to plan a girls' weekend in NYC! I am so excited! Alice suggested that we go sometime during the holiday season because it is really gorgeous to see the city all dolled up for Christmas. So I think I am going to try to plan it for one of the weekends in December before Christmas. I am pumped. I've only been there once, and it was when I was in high school and it was only for a day trip. So that doesn't really even count. The really cool thing is that they have a bus that runs from Chinatown in DC to Manhattan and it is only $50 round trip. So if we get a pretty good group to go and share a hotel room, we can probably pull it off pretty cheap. Woo hoo I love Christmas!

Tonight I am going out with a bunch of people to the bar, which will hopefully involve a lot of dancing. Tomorrow night I am going to make dinner for Jessi and I am guessing we will probably have some cocktails and chill out. Maybe watch a chick flick or something. Sunday I will be working on my project all day. Plus, I'll be planning the trip to NYC. I also think I am going to get out my guitar and play it for a while, and I am going to start planning a yoga class that I want to teach. Jessi said that I could practice with her next week, and then after that I am going to talk to the fitness director at work to see if I can start having a class one day a week. I'm excited, it is something I've always wanted to do.

I think I am going to start adding a little something to my blog every time I post. I am going to start writing about something that made me happy, or made me laugh.

Today: When I was on my way into work 99.5 was playing a 90s hip-hop music mantage and it was awesome! I didn't want to get out of my car. Who can beat Hypnotize?!

I feel lost today

i feel lost today. and sad. and miserable. and hopeless. and listless. and every other yucky word you can think of.

Ugh I am so sick of studying. My head feels like it is about to explode. The good news is, I am about to finish my study guide. After that it is really just going over it a million times until I remember everything. Oh and I also have to mess around with the software tools a little bit so I am a little more familiar with them. Piece of cake.

I had a super fun weekend. Friday, a bunch of us went out in Adams Morgan for Alice's birthday. We went to dinner and then went dancing at Chloe. I love that place. Saturday I went out to dinner and watched a DVD of the stand-up comedian Dane Cook. It was really funny. Yesterday I worked on my class project and studying all day long. I took a break to go running and to the mall for like an hour, but for the rest of the time I was glued to the books.

So I was thinking about it today and I am so so so excited to come home for Thanksgiving in a couple weeks. I can't believe it is already almost here. I can't wait to see my family and my best friends. It feels like I haven't been home in forever, but it really has only been like 6 weeks or something. It seems like so much longer. I can't wait to eat my mom's pumpkin pie. Yum!

Halloween Pics Take 2

I cannot believe it is already November

OMG I seriously cannot believe it is already November!! It is insane how fast this year has flown by. It is kinda scary. In only 3 weeks I will be headed to Michigan for Thanksgiving. I am so excited. I have been really homesick for the last week or so. I can't wait to see my family and my best friends. And my granny knitted me a new afgan for my bedroom and she is giving it to me then. I cannot wait. I saw it while she was still making it, and it was absolutely gorgeous. I'll post pics as soon as I get it. My granny is the bomb.

Last night was so super fun. We went out to McFadden's and partied like rock stars. Normally I don't like that bar because it is just way too much like a college bar, but last night it was a really good time. We danced and danced all night long. My feet hurt so bad, I walked back to my car in my socks. And it was like 6 blocks away! I seriously don't understand DC at all. When I first got down there, I found the place I was going just fine, but then I started looking for a parking spot around it and I ended up getting lost and - ugh - by the time I found the place again I just parked in the nearest parking garage because I didn't want to get lost again. I suck at DC driving! Seriously I would get lost in a wet paper bag down there!!!

Today is another gorgeous autumn day and Jessi and I are going to go running shortly. I loooooooooooove running in the fall. It is the best. The good thing about autumn in Virginia is that the leaves all change and it is so beautiful, but it was still 67 degress today. Yesterday it was in the 70s. So you get all the gorgeous-ness and also great temperatures. Love it! We finished our 4 week workout program and it was awesome! I designed another one for us and it is a combination of the normal stuff that I usually do, plus some weight training from the workout program we just completed. It was really nice to start weight training again after being away from it for so long. Mainly because I was sooooooo bored with just doing cardio and abs every day. You can only do so many crunches before you are about to go off of the deep end. Oh and the other day I found another running path to go on around my house. I just started running and took it to wherever it ended up. It was pretty sweet. It went through some neighborhoods around my house and I got to see a lot of the area that I haven't seen before.
