The Engineer's Prayer

Lord, keep me from the fatal habit of thinking I must say something on every subject and on every occasion. Release me from craving to straighten out everybody's affairs.

Make me thoughtful but not moody; helpful but not bossy. With my vast store of wisdom, it seems a pity not to use it all, but Thou knowest Lord that I want a few friends in the end.

Keep my mind free from the recital of endless details. Give me wings to get to the point. Seal my lips on my capabilities. They are increasing, and love of rehearsing them is becoming sweeter as the years go by. I dare not ask for grace enough to enjoy the tales of others' capabilities, but help me to endure them with patience.

I dare not ask for improved memory, but for a growing humility and a lessening arrogance when my memory seems to clash with the memories of others. Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally I may be mistaken.

Give me the ability to see intelligence in unexpected places, and talents in unexpected people. And, give me, O Lord, the grace to tell them so.

And finally, Mercury is shrinking.

Hot Picture of Ryan Reynolds

This scene made the movie Blade Trinity well worth watching...

It's Windy

Wow. It is seriously windy outside today. I almost got blown over on the way into work this morning. Crazy. It kind of reminds me of Ann Arbor. It was always really windy there. Crappy weather always reminds me of home.

Not much to talk about today. I started reading my next book club book and it is already really intersting, and I am only on chapter 2! Yay!

I can't believe it is already going to be February this weekend. Which means, in less than a month I am going to be 27. Scary.

How about a joke?

Tight Skirt, Bus Stop

One day, at a bus stop there was a girl who was wearing a skintight miniskirt. When the bus arrived and it was her turn to get on, she realized that her skirt was so tight she couldn't get her foot high enough to reach to step.

Thinking it would give her enough slack to raise her leg, she reached back and unzipped her skirt a little. She still could not reach the step. Embarrassed, she reached back once again to unzip it a little more. Still, she couldn't reach the step.

So, with her skirt zipper halfway down, she reached back and unzipped her skirt all the way. Thinking that she could get on the step now, she lifted up her leg only to realize that she still couldn't reach the step.

So, seeing how embarrassed the girl was, the man standing behind her put his hands around her waist and lifted her up on to the first step of the bus. The girl turned around furiously and said,

"How dare you touch my body that way, I don't even know you!"

Shocked, the man says, "Well, ma'am, after you reached around and unzipped my fly three times, I kinda figured that we were friends."

I hate that when that happens

I could not fall asleep last night. My mind kept running and I could not stop thinking and worrying about stupid crap. I hate when that happens.

Tonight I am going out to dinner with a big group of girls and going to see 27 Dresses! I'm really excited. Oh man I just went to the website and found out that Ed Burns is in it! He's a cutie!

Last night I watched the movie Blood Diamond. It was good but it was really gory. So if you decide to watch it, make sure you are ready for some serious blood and guts.

Not much else to say!

Almost Normal - After Tons of Sleep

Well, I slept for about 100 hours this weekend. After finally getting home on Friday after driving back from PA, I don't know if I had ever been more excited about staying in on a Friday night in my entire life. I was so exhausted, I fell asleep at like 8:30 and slept all the way until 9 o'clock the next morning. Saturday I planned to go to the store, but when I finally finished getting ready I sat on the couch and fell asleep for 4 hours. Then I went to dinner with Jessi and Alice and some other people that night. I came straight home afterwards and went to sleep. Sunday night I had book club and it was soooooooooooo fun! I am so glad I started it. We discussed Wonderful Tonight. Our next book is The Kommandant's Girl. I'm excited. It looks good.

Yesterday I went to Old Navy and got a fleece for $4. Can you believe that?! I was pumped. If I would have felt better, I probably would have bought more. But I could not focus on anything for the life of me, so I bought my four dollar fleece and left.

I wish I could breathe through my nose

I can't stop sneezing, sniffling, and blowing my nose. It is getting annoying. Once again, I can't wait to go home and go to bed. I'm exhausted and feel poopy still. If I put my head on my desk I think I would probably pass out in about ten seconds.

Last night I got a hotel room that was next to the elevator. Needless to say, it was really, really annoying. I fell asleep okay because I had the TV on and it died down after a while, but this morning when I wanted to sleep longer, I couldn't because the elevator kept going. Ugh. It was annoying. I have a hard time blocking out really repetitive, irritating noises.

My head is stuffy and I can't think of anything else to write.

Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good.

Oh man I am sick. Sick as a dooooooog. Ugh. I stayed home from work yesterday. I probably should have stayed home today too but I couldn't stand sitting in my apartment all day for another day, bored. Yesterday I finished another Jodi Picoult book. It is called Harvesting the Heart. It was soooo good. I could not put it down. One of the main characters in the book was a heart surgeon though and I wanted to barf in some places. Ha ha. Man, I love her books. I also watched Bewitched yesterday. It was kind of corny, but I thought it was cute and I really liked it. It was fun.

Tonight I am going out to happy hour with some co-workers, even though I should go straight to bed. I probably won't stay long but I really want to go. So I'm doin' it. Maybe some liquor will kill off whatever virus is trying to kill me. Fight fire with fire, you know.

Alright this post is boring, that is all!

I'm so tired. I don't want to go to school. I feel like I am getting sick. I've been dizzy all day (insert blonde joke - har har), and my throat hurts. I cannot wait to go to bed.

Guess what? I have to travel for work this week. I just found out today. Thankfully it is only for one day.

Boo hoo. That is my sob story.

In Diana Jones

Back from California!

Man it was hard to leave. But I am glad to be back at home again and I am not traveling anywhere again until the end of February when I go to Germany. I am so sick of airports. Ugh. I have a pile of laundry that is sky high and all I want to do right now is sleep, sleep, and sleep some more.

But instead, I am at work.

Why you all in my grill?

I am stressed, and overwhelmed, and I wish people would just leave me alone!

It's a good thing I'm going on vacation.

A Question to Ponder

I'm reading a new book by my most favoritest author, Jodi Picoult. It is called 19 Minutes.

It is about a school shooting.

I couldn't help but wonder about the amount of press and everything that all of these school shootings keep receiving. And it seems that the kids that do it are eating up that attention like it is the best thing ever.

So my question is, does talking about it and everything else glorify it in the minds of these idiot kids who decide to act out this violence?

And if so, here I am talking about it on my blog!

Dating is fun, but also can be a huge pain in the ass

At the tender age of 26, dating is fun but can also be a huge pain in the ass. There is this enormous pressure to date the right person, someone that your family likes and approves of, etc., etc. the list goes on. I mean, lets be honest, most people get married when they are in their twenties or thirties. So, that means every person you date you feel like there is this enormous pressure to decide whether or not they are the right person for you and if you could potentially see yourself spending your entire life with them. Ugh. What a way to suck the fun right out of it. And really the only way to know is by dating them.

On the other hand it is a lot of fun to learn new things about people, have new experiences, have that "new relationship" excitement, and everything else that goes along with it. I guess you get to take the good with the not-so-good.

Monday Schmonday

I did not want to get out of bed this morning. Not at all. I did not sleep well last night because I had 3 horrible nightmares and finally ended up turning on my light next to my bed because I was so freaked out. It totally sucked. So, after that I just did not get good sleep. I got about 3 hours of real sleep + nightmares, and 5 hours of off-and-on sucky sleep.

Last Friday I went to the chiropractor for the first time and I must say that it was an experience. I decided to go because I have a knot in my back that has been there for like 2 years, plus I hurt my neck 3 years ago and it has never felt the same since. The chiropractor hooked me up to these electrode thingies that felt like you were getting a massage. It was really cool and I decided that I really wish I had one for my house. Then he adjusted me and it was seriously crazy how loud and how much my back and my neck cracked. It felt so good, and honestly I do feel a little better already. If this makes my knot go away I will be so happy. The bad news is that my insurance doesn't cover it. So I have to decide once I go a few times if I really think it is helping, and if I want to continue.

Last weekend was so fun. Friday I cooked dinner, and it turned out so good. I made chicken stir fry. Then I went to see Charlie Wilson's War, which was okay, but I was so full from dinner, totally exhausted, and had already had 2 drinks. I fell asleep in the theater! I have never, ever done that before. It felt really good to fall asleep though. Ha ha. You know how sometimes you'll be so tired, and you know you shouldn't fall asleep, but you do anyway, and it is such a good feeling?! That is how it was.

Saturday night I went out with Jade to MCCXXIII and it was SOOOO fun! The DJ was awesome and we danced from the minute we got there to the minute we left. It was such a good time. Then Sunday I went shopping and cooked dinner again. I made white chili for the first time and it turned out so good. I was really proud of myself. I made it in my crock pot. :)

New Hilarious Websites

OMG these two websites are hilarious. One of them I heard about on Cute Overload, and the other a co-worker told me about. You gotta check them out. If they don't make you laugh, you are made of stone: Lolcats 'n' Funny Pictures - I Can Has Cheezburger? and I've been cracking up all morning about these pictures!!

I'm in a much better mood today. I cleaned my apartment and worked out, which always makes me feel better. Tonight I am finally going to go grocery shopping. Yesterday I really hit rock bottom when I ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on a hamburger bun. Then I ate an entire can of chick peas and two fish sticks for dinner. Isn't that sad? Ha ha it makes me laugh to think about it though.

The good news is - I DON'T HAVE TO WORK TOMORROW!!! WOO HOO!!

I can't get the smell of the airport out of my nose

Ugh I hate the smell of the airport. I have the cranky pants on today. Which is strange, considering I am wearing a dress. Yesterday was possibly the longest day ever, being that I left my hotel in Dallas at 7:30 a.m. and did not get back to my apartment in Virginia until 1 a.m. I was so tired that I couldn't fall asleep. I seriously do not know how my sister works for insanely long hours all the time while saving lives all at the same time! Insane! I just was sitting in briefings all day and then traveling all night and I wanted to die by the time I got in bed.

Yesterday was my first day of classes again (which I missed, because I was in Dallas, boo hoo). I must say that I am not ready to go back to school. On the other hand, I really just want to get it over with so I am fine with the fact that it is starting up again in that regard. Only a year and a half left.

The good news about working 16.5 hours yesterday is that I get to have Friday off. I am going to SLEEP and probably go grocery shopping, considering I haven't gone in over a month I don't think. I am OUT OF EVERYTHING!

Proud, Albeit Cranky

Not snoozing is hard. I've been doing it though. I was really ticked off today and yesterday when I got up. It doesn't really make sense though considering I think I am more tired throughout the day when I snooze over and over again.

Last night I was so totally wiped out and exhausted that I didn't even work out. You know I never use that as an excuse so it had to be bad. I got home from work around 6, ate dinner, showered and got ready for bed, and fell asleep before 9 o'clock. It was such a great feeling. I got to work at 7:40 and I am super proud of myself! That's a whole hour earlier than I normally get here! And it's Friday! Yay! I'm going to work out in a new gym today too, so that's exciting.

Tonight I am going to a promotion party for my friend Nikki and then going out dancing in the city with the girls. I can't wait.

Serve Me Up a Steak!

Oh man of all the diet articles out there, this one is the best: Click here.

Tomorrow I plan to eat some eggs and canadian bacon for breakfast, pizza for lunch, filet mignon for dinner and ice cream for dessert. :)

Did I already mention that I really like these short work weeks we've been having lately? Day'um I can't believe it is already Thursday. I have tons of fun stuff planned for this weekend too, and I am really excited.

Next week I get to go on business travel for a few days too, which will make for some fun times as well! Weeeeeeeeeeeee!

New Year's Eve and Other Random Pictures

Happy 2008!

Wow! I can't believe it is 2008. That is so weird. Well, I had tons and tons of fun on new year's eve this year. We went to Front Page in Arlington and it was seriously a blast. The food was really great and the drinks were of course great. We danced and laughed all night long and it was so much fun. I'm really glad we decided to go. :) I'll post pics once I upload them. Yay!
