Book Discussion:
Running With Scissors

One word for this book: Ewwwwww!

Is that a word? I am not sure but that is what I was thinking for a large portion of this book. And, I was also thinking WTF!? It was that crazy.

This book is about a boy who is pretty much disowned by his family, and he goes to live with his mother's psychiatrist. Oh yeah, this is a memoir.

To say this book was jaw-dropping and ridiculous is a complete understatement. I couldn't believe half of the stuff that he said in this book! It was amazing! It was also pretty sad. Actually, it was like a comedy and a tragedy all in one book. The way he told the story was funny in a lot of places, but I can't imagine the horror and fear he must have often felt as a child growing up in these conditions. His mother's untreated mental illness basically wreaked havoc on his life. While he was living with the psychiatrist there were no rules or structure - people would eat dog food and the kids would poop on the floor. Sick! They lived in a house of chaos and filth! Everyone in this story seemed totally insane - except the author!

I'd love to read a sequel to this book to find out how everyone has turned out today. Ha!

Guess what? They're making a movie out of this book. I can't wait to see how this translates to the big screen!

Wedding Wednesday :-D
More Gowns!

I have been having so much fun shopping for gowns lately and I had to share some of the ones that I've found that I love! These are definitely contenders! :-)

2BE Bridal - Kathy Ireland Design

The top photo is definitely my first choice right now! I think it is so beautiful and elegant. I tried it when I was shopping with Lindsay and her mom (my future sister-in-law and mother-in-law!). I just want the skirt to be fuller, which they probably can do! I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I tried it on! The second one I love because it's so fun and light - perfect for a garden wedding! It looked way better in person than it does in this pic!

More to come! :)

Jump In!

Isn't this the hugest pizza box you have ever seen in your entire life? Anthony could fit in this box if he tried! LOL. And yes that is a slice of pizza as long as his arm that he is holding!

My friends and I went out in Hollywood last weekend and Tim and Ali picked up this pizza on the way back after the bar, and it was the biggest pizza EVER! They said they had never been approached by so many people as they did while they were carrying this pizza box. LOL.

That night was a really fun night. They had a room at The W Hotel - which was really beautiful and swanky, and right in the middle of Hollywood. We hung out at the hotel bar for a while, and then we went to Five0Four, a New Orleans themed bar (also in Hollywood). It was definintely a different scene than what you normally see in Hollywood. The clientel was very eclectic and the atmosphere was really laid back. I liked it a lot. Overall a very fun experience!

Partial* Family Photo

A pic of me, Robbie, and Buster in our PJs - outside on the balcony enjoying the sunshine. I would have loved for Zach to join the photo to make it a "complete" family photo - but have you ever tried to get a cat to sit still for a photo (with you)? It's darn near impossible! Even getting Buster to sit still was somewhat of a trial - he's trying to give me a kiss in this photo. LOL.

Also, Zach is generally not allowed on the balcony ever because he is a butthead and climbs on the neighbor's balcony, or out on the ledge that is 4 stories up and about, oh, 10 inches wide. Cripes.

2 of my fav boys :-) LOL

Friday Funny :-D
Zach's Brother?

This picture on the LOLCats website totally cracked me up because Zach is seriously the LONGEST cat you will ever meet. My vet in Virginia used to call him the "tall drink of water" cat, aka the Texan cat. LOL.

To say Buster is terrified of heights is an understatement. After finally, finally, finally convincing him to come out on the balcony - you can see he thoroughly enjoyed the warm afternoon sun!

DC Pics!

In January I went to DC for a little visit. I got to spend some much needed time with some friends there! And I got to meet Jessie's boyfriend and my Julie's new baby Simone! Here are some pics!

While I was there we went on a tour of the US Capitol, went to the Library of Congress, went out to many yummy dinners - including Columbia Firehouse and Founding Farmers. It was a very fun trip!

While I was there I realized how much I really miss my best friends from there. I can't wait to visit with them again - Jessie and Chris are coming out to California in May so I don't have long to wait! :-D

Back to the Land of the Living

Hello! Happy Monday everyone! Is it a happy Monday? I don't know, it just started for me but I do know that last weekend was really great so I'm hoping this continues.

After being on business travel for the entire week last week, and being sleep deprived the entire time, I was just short of ecstatic when I got back home on Thursday night and got to sleep in my own bed. I had worked enough hours that I didn't have to go in on Friday and so I spent most of the day like this:

...and it was AMAZING.

Saturday I went dancing with Laura and it was incredible. I haven't done that is so long and I was just astounded that something that I love so much has been absent from my life for so long. How did that happen? I don't know.

I also did a lot of fun shopping, went to one of my favorite yoga classes, and accomplished a lot of things on my to-do list. I finally feel like I am starting to get back to my old self, and it feels so good. :-)

How was your weekend?

Wedding Wednesday :-D
Bridesmaid Dresses + Another Bouquet

Not too long ago I posted a photo of the bridesmaid dresses that I think the girls are going to wear in our wedding....and then I came across this picture below on my photographer's website! I had only seen the dresses in black so I was really excited to find this picture. Now, just imagine how beautiful they will look in Tiffany Blue?! And hey check out those hydrangea bouquets! The bride in these pics obviously has the same taste as me! LOL.

I also came across this photo of a bouquet (also on my photographer's website), and I really, really love it! I think the feathers are fun and wouldn't it look cute with the dress I posted a while back that had feather accents? I could see a white feather + white flowers theme developing from this idea!

Zebra Nail Art!

Check out this picture of the zebra nail art I did the other day! Isn't it fun? I know this isn't the best picture but I was too lazy to get out my camera so I used my phone. LOL.

I painted my nails white and then used one of my Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens to do the black stripes.

That's the wayyyy we became the Brady Bunch!

Between me, my sister, and my mother we have NINE pets. NINE. Isn't that funny?!

My mom is always telling me that Zach needs a friend and I always say...he can wait another nine months for Buster to get here and then they can be friends. I really, really don't think that we need a tenth pet in this family! LOL. I'm just going to go ahead and assume that the reason we've gotten to this point is that Sara and I have learned it over the years, because my mom is like Dr. Dolittle and wants to adopt every single animal that she ever meets! LOL.

I will say that it did come in handy though when I had to ask her to take care of Zach and Rusty for me for a year when I was unable to do so. That was very nice and generous of her to help me take care of them. She ended up getting so attached to Rusty that she had to keep him in Michigan! Zach ended up coming back to Virginia with me. :-D

No Time!

Hello everyone! Just wanted to quickly post hello...and state the obvious that I have had ZERO time to post lately! Hopefully I will be back at it again next week!

In the mean time...cheers!
