March Birchbox Product Review

Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien - I actually like this perfume! It's pretty fresh smelling and is not strong at all. Very nice!

Color Club Nail Lacquer in He Loves Me - I HATED this polish. The color was pretty but it was impossible to apply, it was gunky and I could not get it to look smooth and there were tons of brush lines. No no no! Is Color Club normally like this?!

Eve Lom TLC Radiance Cream - Meh. This didn't really impress me overly. I didn't notice a difference. It is light and not too greasy though, which I liked.

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Water Cloth - These were pretty neat and did remove all of my makeup really well (even waterproof mascara). My skin felt really soft and clean afterwards. I am not sure I would pay premium price for them though, just because I am not sure how often I would use them. Maybe before the gym?

Traditions by Nick Chavez - This shampoo smells amazing. I like using it to wash my bangs - I notice that it leaves them really shiny even if I don't use conditioner. When I use it on my entire head though, I don't feel like it moisturizing enough. Boo. I need SUPER SUPER SUPER moisturizing shampoos. LOL.

Tea Forte skin-smart Teas - These were good but not any better than any other fruity herbal tea that I have used. I suppose you'd have to use them over time to see if they were really "skin smart." It was a nice bonus in my Birchbox though!

Book Discussion
Promise Not to Tell

Two words for this book: Page Turner!
This book was so good! It was so suspenseful and I kept finding myself feeling very excited to pick it up every day and find out what happened next!

There were two story lines in this book that both centered on two main characters, Katie and Del. One story line told the tale of them as little girls, and how Del was murdered. The concurrent story was about Katie as an adult. Both story lines kept you hooked and wanting to know more – and both were murder mysteries. The stories intertwined in an intricate way that was pretty unexpected. There was also a little supernatural flare in there too – which was fun and I loved. There was talk of ghosts and there were ghost stories.
Del, who is known as the potato girl, was really interesting and multi-faceted. She had a home life that was questionable; the author alluded to abuse and overall strangeness. It was implied that she was promiscuous. She was really mature and worldly for her age; as an example, she had a tattoo as an elementary school kid!

This book touched on a lot of deep topics – bullying, murder, ageing parents and their care, Alzheimer’s, adultery, alternate lifestyles (i.e. Katie grew up living in a commune, in a tee pee).
The parts about the bullying were particularly sad. It brought back memories of how it is to be a kid, to know who is popular and who is not, and who gets teased and who does the teasing. Honestly, it made me pretty happy that I am not a kid anymore (in some ways). Unfortunately, I did experience bullying as a kid, and it was terrifying.
I liked this book enough to go find some of Jennifer McMahon’s books and pick another to download right away! I love that. :-D

Wedding Wednesday :-D
Best Weekend Ever: Part 1

The last weekend of March was one of the most amazing weekends ever. I had my bachelorette party on Friday and I had my shower on Sunday. Can you say awesome?! Both of my parties were absolutely amazing. I was humbled by the number of thoughtful and sweet things that my family and friends did for me to make both events so special. So…this post will be about my bachelorette party and then next Wednesday I will post about my shower.
Jackie took the lead on planning my bachelorette party and she did an amazing job. We started out at Mosaic for dinner. It was so delicious and the service was great. I had the Seabass and it was mouthwatering. Here is a photo of all of us at the restaurant, yay!

After dinner, we headed over to The Greektown Casino. It was right across from the restaurant so it was really convenient. Jackie had reserved a room and gotten tons of fun and funny decorations and party favors. She also made lots of food – appetizers and desserts. There were also tons of jello shots and drinks for all. I can’t even begin to list all of the amazing things. I received many pretty and thoughtful gifts. One of my favorites was a photo frame and photo mat that everyone signed. Isn't that so cute? Chrissy made my beautiful bachelorette sash. Here is a photo; didn’t she do such a great job?

My other bridesmaids and friends contributed a lot too and did tons of stuff to help Jackie’s vision come to life! And one of the most hilarious parts – Jackie (and the girls) hired a stripper to come to the room and give dances. Omg, I didn’t realize how embarrassing this would be. LOL. It was hilarious but it was also really weird to have someone dancing all over the place and me sitting there in a chair being the center of attention for the whole show! The guy was totally respectful though and kept asking me if I was okay because Jackie had told him to keep it VA-NIL-LA! Thank goodness!
After that….we went to The Old Shillelagh, which was also in Greektown. We danced and danced and had a great time. It was so much fun. I did NOT want the party to end!
Here are more photos!

Cornhole - In the Works!

My brother-in-law sent me this photo the other day of our cornhole boards. I am so excited!
The boards are going to be white and the beanbags are going to be teal and taupe.
Wasn’t this so nice of him? Woot!

Knock Knock Knock...Anybody Home?

Helloooo readers!
So…Hi. It’s been a while. Basically “life” took over and something had to give for a bit….and unfortunately that meant my blog was the one thing that “gave.” Sigh.
But I am back now. Yay!
I've been AWOL since I went to Michigan for my Bridal Shower and my Bachelorette Party at the end of March. After I got back, I essentially devoted all of my time to finishing up wedding stuff. There were quite a few random things to get done and I wanted to just get them out of the way. This included getting gifts for my bridesmaids, designing and ordering programs, getting my bridal jewelry, and other miscellaneous things like that. It’s funny how those little things can end up taking a decent amount of time! I also asked Robbie to do some things, and asked some family and friends to help with a few things that I can’t do from afar – which is a HUGE help and I thank them for that immensely!
Also, I had a moment (or two…or ten) of reflection and realized that I have reached my wedding planning threshold. I set a goal for myself to get done with everything by May 1 at the absolute latest (yay for being early!). Anything extraneous that was not done by then was getting axed. Also, it stopped being as much fun and started to be annoying. LOL. For one thing, enough is enough, and for another thing….I decided that I need that last month before the wedding to relax, de-stress, and feel normal again. And not think about ANYTHING TO DO WITH WEDDINGS. And have fun. And did I mention not stress? And also I’d like to read some books. And go to the beach and the pool.
I’m sure there will be some little things here and there that will have to be done during the last few days right before the wedding but other than that – Finis! I will still be posting about Wedding Wednesday though…so don’t worry about that. LOL. :-D I’ve done a lot of stuff that I need to tell you about, many reviews and opinons to give (lucky you!), and many pictures to post. Also, I am in 3 other weddings this year. LOL. :-D
Now…I’m going to go read a book and paint my nails. YAY. It is going to be soooo nice to have a BREAK.

Wedding Wednesday :-D
More Veils!

Check out these veils that I found on Veils of Art. I love them!
I’m thinking I’m definitely going to get a veil that is fairly simple with a floral motif. Also, I only want one layer, and I don’t want there to be a ton of fabric.
These are the first veils I have found that I actually like. I’ve had sort of a hard time choosing. They all seem so huge and ridiculous and like the 1980s called and they want their veils back. LOL. I love birdcage veils but I don’t feel like they really go with my dress.
Maybe one of these is the one? :-D
